Germanwings Drafts Air Crew from Other Airlines

The day following the tragic crash of Germanwings Flight U49525, the airline was forced to rely on air crews from other carriers for 11 of its scheduled flights.

According to a 25 March 2015 article in Newsweek, 40 of the Germanwings airline crews were declared “unfit to fly” and had to be replaced.

A spokesperson for Germanwings says some crew members felt “emotionally unable” to work today having lost colleagues in the crash.

This spokesperson emphasized that the 40 crew members had “no safety concerns” about the Airbus planes.
