This morning, the Congressional Black Caucus publicly endorsed Hillary Clinton as its choice for President, tossing aside Senator Bernie Sanders.
New York Rep. Gregory Meeks, chair of the Congressional Black Caucus Political Action Committee, said this of its choice.
One of the individuals that has been with us time and time again has been Hillary Clinton. She has been, her whole career, an individual that has been fighting for issues that are important to the African-American community.
The vocal and hard-hitting caucus, composed of 46 African Americans, is represented by powerhouses such as Elijah Cummings, Barbara Lee, Marcia Fudge, Cory Booker, Sheila Jackson Lee, John Lewis and Eleanor Holmes Norton (Full member list here).
The CBC endorsement follows the endorsements of Clinton by a majority of members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus.
Senator Sanders currently is endorsed by two members of the House of Representatives: Keith Ellison and Raúl Grijalva. Both are co-chairs of the Progressive Caucus.
