The Media Awakens and Discovers: Trump’s $40 Million Loan-Funded Campaign

After 12 months of nonstop jibber-jabber and complicit promotion of Donald J. Trump, the media of this country have suddenly jerked awake. What startled the behemoth of talking heads? Why, it’s that the Donald’s campaign is dramatically lean. So lean that some have compared it to a fund-raiser for a Congressional job rather than the office of the President.

If the media had done its job, it would have noticed that the presumptive GOP nominee has never had more than $7 million cash-on-hand, and that for many, many months, that total has barely bumped past the one million dollar mark.

If the media had done its job instead of giving this buffoon hundreds of hours of free air time for the sake of ratings, it would have seen that his campaign is funded on debt; that Trump initiated his run for the presidency with a loan back in 2015 and, that he has taken out six loans over the last year.

The media would not be shocked at the graphic below which shows the Trump campaign is essentially a huge debt. A wee 17.8% of all donations come from people; a shocking 73.7% are candidate Trump’s loans.

Receipts

The information has been out there all along.

Donald Trump first submitted campaign finance reports to the FEC back in July 2015. His most recent filing was on 20 June 2016. These are not The X Files. They are legitimate, accessible files over at the FEC website.

But the cable news shows and networks have been preoccupied. It’s so much fun to show the idiocy of Donald J. Trump, and then have panels “discuss” the idiocy, interpret the idiocy and rehash the idiocy as Breaking News, every hour on the hour.

These filings show that the candidate has taken out staggering loans to run his campaign, totaling $40,789,424.39.  While he claims his campaign is self-funded, in the last 12 months, he has kicked in a measly $395,508.22 from his own pocket.

So at long last, the #NeverTrump movement has found its key. It’s simple. Report the facts.

For the geeks, those who are truly interested, here’s a month-by-month rundown of the candidate’s Receipts (contributions), Disbursements (expenditures) and Cash on Hand at the end of each reporting period. The data covers the entire Donald J. Trump campaign.

  1. How’s a campaign without monied contributors going to repay the hustler? There could be no sweeter revenge then to defeat him and then bankrupt Trump again. Former Congressperson Lowell Wicker from Connecticut (a so-called liberal Republican) once joked he was the turd in the Republican’s punch bowl. That remark now applies to Trump for much different reasons.
