The building that carried the Itera International Energy nameplate is the central hub for hundreds of corporations with an interlocking, core group of principals. Now known as Areti (Itera spelled backward), the building has birthed 392 businesses with a common mailbox (9995 Gate Parkway North, Jacksonville, Florida 32246). Of this progeny, only a handful are not associated with the Areti/Itera principals. But the bulk are connected.
In many cases, companies linked to Areti/Itera do double duty as “officers” in other companies. This doubling-up acts to disguise and bury people from public view.
Many of the companies named as officers in active entities are no longer active. Yet they still exist within a living corporation. As an example, The Archer Group, LLC lists among its officers the Estates of NC, LLC, Dauntless Group, Inc. and Itera International Energy Corp. However, only one of these – Estates of NC – is classified as Active. Yet a closer look shows that Estates of NC has no officers and takes form only as an officer of The Archer Group. Thus, the only viable business entity is Archer; its officers are illusionary shell companies.
Another peculiarity found among the principals linked to Areti/Itera is the slight variation in spelling. Names are off by one or two letters, which gives the appearance of a different human being. What might be viewed as a typo also functions to pad the size of a corporation and divert searches for specific people through a simple disguise.
Thus browsing through business managers at 9995 Gate Parkway North brings up these name variants among principals:
- Nicolas Kavalieros aka Nick Kavalieros aka Nicolaos T. Kavalieros
- Steven C. Koegler aka Steve Kogler
- Steven M. Sisselman aka Steven M. Sisslemann
Then there are the entities themselves. Dauntless Group morphs into Dauntless USA, Inc. There is a Forum Capitol Group, Inc. and Forum Capitol Partners, LLC. Itera International Energy Corp. is replaced by Itera Capital Partners LLC and then Itera Rig LLC.
One begins to understand why the Matryoshkas are such an apt symbol here. Businesses are folded within businesses that are folded within businesses, and just like those hidden nesting dolls with the smiling faces, people are hidden from view.
Shell companies, disguises, name variations – these are all the hallmarks of something unsavory in the business and legal world. Terms associated with these measures include tax fraud and tax evasion, money laundering and other criminal schemes. When these hallmarks are clustered around a single address and the same set of principals, then a hot red alert should be sounding.
Since 1994, a dozen people have coalesced around the original entity known as Itera International Energy Corporation. The four founders and the origins of these company are described in a previous post. They are Raissa Frenkel and Lazar Finkel, Theodore Kavalieros and Igor Makarov. Only one, Kavalieros, was a United States citizen at the time Itera was established. Frenkel and Finkel came from Kazan, a Russian Republic. Makarov is a native of Turkmenistan, a former Soviet state.
